Aging-in-Place Technologies

With the aging population growing, the technologies available to seniors to keep them safe in their homes are giving families and caregivers more choices to life’s demands.  As our families age, maintaining independence and good health can be challenging.  CNN released a story today that explains how aging-in-place can be carried out through sensor technology.  Sensor and monitoring networks can give seniors and individuals with special needs, families and caregivers peace of mind.

Sensors Monitor Older People at Home

By John D. Sutter, CNN

Robert Jennings, 86, has a system in his home that monitors his movements and activities.

One example of this type of health care system is a company called Peace of Mind Alternative.  According to POMA, they use a combination of remote environmental sensing, passive physiological sensing, artificial intelligence, and networking technologies.  The PMA system allows the caregiver and family to keep a careful eye on the loved-one without compromising dignity or privacy. This reduces caregiver stress by providing wonderful peace of mind all around.  To learn more about POMA, log on to their website:  Peace of Mind Alternative or email:  stacey@theoakssc.com.
