SmartNav 4 AT for Persons with ALS

SmartNav 4: AT offers affordable computer access technology for persons with ALS (pALS).  The software includes complete hands-free mouse control using head movement.  It also includes built-in voice recognition command and control, Dwell Clicking software and an on-screen keyboard.  If switch access is used, there are no limits.  You can plug almost any head or foot switch directly into the back of the SmartNav.  The Y breakout cable allows you to plug in separate switches for left and right clicking.  We recently demo’ed the SmartNav 4 and found it to be easy to install and set-up. Very little head movement was needed to move the mouse around on the screen.  However, seating, positioning, and comfort are important to allow natural head movement. Seating Solutions is thinking “Beyond the Wheelchair”.  So, what happens after a person obtains their wheelchair with optimal seating? Assistive technology today, like the SmartNav 4, allows us to help individuals connect and interact with the world around them.

The SmartNav 4 can also be used by those individuals with spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, and other neurological diseases and injuries.  You can watch more videos at:  www.naturalpoint.com/smartnav/products/videos.htm
